Advocacy

NALBOH supports and encourages sound public health policy. While NALBOH does not engage in direct lobbying, we provide information, tools, and other resources to empower NALBOH members and others to communicate with their policymakers at the local, state, and federal level.

NALBOH’s activities include taking formal positions on key issues for local public health, joining national coalitions to speak with one voice on crucial health policies, and joining amicus briefs for cases before the Supreme Court with implications for local health.

NALBOH serves as a resource for members and others who want to engage in public health advocacy. NALBOH occasionally issues action alerts for time-sensitive opportunities to communicate about pending legislation or other policy actions. We also distribute an advocacy NEWSALERT with current advocacy news and resources. Sign up for the advocacy NEWSALERT.

Our state affiliates, SALBOHs, are also an excellent resource for state-specific policy and advocacy support.
