Steven F. Scanlin

 

State Affiliate Director

 

Mr. Scanlin is in the private practice of law in Boise, Idaho.  Prior to entering private practice, he was a Deputy Attorney General for the State of Idaho representing 14 state agencies including the Board of Medicine, Board of Pharmacy, and Board of Dentistry and practiced before the Board of Nursing.  He was previously on the personal staff of Idaho Governor John Evans and of U.S. Sen. Max Baucus. 

 

He was a Navy Hospital Corpsman and is Vietnam era veteran of the U.S.

Naval Reserve and Marine Corps.  He received his Juris Doctor from the

University of Idaho in 1984, a Master of Social Work from Portland State

University in 1971 and holds a B.S. Ed. from Montana State University, Billings.  He practiced social work for 10 years including time as a medical social worker as the Director of Social Services at West Valley Medical Center in Caldwell, Idaho.  Prior to attending law school he also served two terms in the Idaho House of Representatives.

 

His current law practice includes elder law, guardianships, estate

planning, wills, trusts, probate, small business entities, and state

administrative law. 

 

He was appointed to the Board of Health of the Central District (Idaho)

Health Department in 2000. He has subsequently been elected to his third

term as Chair of the Board of Health, served as Chair of IAB, the Idaho

Association of Boards (of Health, Idaho's SALBOH) and became a State Affiliate Director on the NALBOH Board of Directors in December of 2008.
