Board of Directors - 2010

Carolyn Wysocki
New England Regional Director
Carolyn Wysocki is an active advocate for justice, public health, and the environment. After retiring as a psychologist from the Connecticut Department of Mental Health and her private practice, she continued to serve in leadership positions in both the public and private sector at the local, state, and national levels.
Under her 6 year leadership as chairperson, the Central Connecticut Health District was the first to implement the Governance Performance Assessment Tool twice and used it as a quality performance improvement measurement. Carolyn had guided the initial Strategic Plan development, updated and expanded personnel policies, developed a board orientation process/manual, and a Performance Appraisal System for evaluating Directors of Health based on the 10 Essential Functions of Public Health and Competencies.
This is Carolyn’s fourth year on the NALBOH Board where she is a member of the Membership and Education & Training Committees. She was past Chair of the Performance and Accreditation Sub-committee and Environmental Health Committee Member.
In Connecticut, she was a member of the Connecticut Environmental Public Health-Tracking Consortium which produced a report for tracking the linkages between environmental exposures and an adverse health effect, served on the Connecticut Asthma Task Force, and was recently appointed to the Governor’s Public Health Regionalization Council.
As a person with MCS (Multiple Chemical Sensitivity) and asthma, Carolyn brings her personal experiences in understanding the linkages between our environment and our health. Recognized for her environmental activism she was recently presented the “Berlin Citizen of the Year” award for her efforts to help her hometown become greener, safer and healthier.
As a determined steward of the earth, her mission is to help make a safer and healthier world for her grandchildren, and the prevention of diseases. Her slogan is “Prevention is My Intention.”
