Call for Nominations Now Available - Nominate a Colleague for the NALBOH Board of Directors!

NALBOH’s Nominating Committee has issued its annual call for nominations for positions on the NALBOH Board of Directors. NALBOH officers and directors serve THREE year terms that begin on January 1, 2017. The full Board plans to meet twice a year in on-site, face-to face meetings; it also meets at other times as necessary by conference call. 

The following positions are available:

  • President-Elect
  • Director at Large (2 Positions)
  • Secretary

NALBOH Spring Webinar View the Recording & Slides!

NALBOH partnered with the Public Health Accreditation Board to present a webinar titled Why Boards of Health Benefit from Good Policies, Understanding Legalities and the Merits of Accreditation with Kaye Bender, President and CEO of PHAB, on March 24th. Over 40 participants tuned in live to the webinar and received updates on Accreditation pertaining to a Board's role in the process. Apply Now for the Healthiest Cities and Counties Challenge

Is public health a priority in your county? Submit a proposal for the Healthiest Cities and Counties Challenge!  The Challenge aims to improve measurable health outcomes and promote health, wellness, equity and social interaction through practical, evidence-based strategies and cross-sector collaboration. Challenge participants that demonstrate measurable results are eligible to win up to $500,000. The deadline for submitting a proposal is May 31 at 5 p.m. EDT. Network for Public Health Law Webinar - Addressing Socioeconomic Barriers to Health Equity through Law - April 21

Social and economic disadvantages create barriers to good health ― factors such as unsafe housing, exposure to toxic substances, and limited access to care can negatively impact the health of individuals and communities for generations. Laws and policies can contribute to barriers, but can also be used to advance health equity. Tune in for the webinar titled: Addressing Socioeconomic Barriers to Health Equity through Law: A Preview of the 2016 Public Health Law Conference on April 21, which previews three sessions from the upcoming 2016 Public Health Law Conference.

NALBOH Offers Webinars for State Associations to Navigate New Website: Please contact NALBOH if you feel a webinar for your state organization would encourage NALBOH membership and utilization of the new website. This could also include a NALBOH update from one of your Board Members and if you have any questions for NALBOH Staff and Board!

CDC Releases New Prevention Status Reports
CDC has released the newest Prevention Status Reports, which highlight the status of policies and practices designed to address prominent public health issues. Individual reports are available for all 50 states as well as the District of Columbia and cover 10 key health topics, including food safety, motor vehicle injury and tobacco use, among others.
