Formerly known as the National Center for Nonprofit Boards (NCNB), BoardSource
is "dedicated to building stronger nonprofit boards and stronger nonprofit
organization." It has resources to conferences, leadership program, web
links, and their newsletter.
Center
for Health Leadership & Practice
The Center is "a global network and learning community of reflective health
leaders committed to improving and sustaining the health of their communities,
nations and the planet; to the transformation of organizations and the development
of health systems that are community and culturally relevant in achieving this
goal; and to the identification and nursing of the next generation of health
leaders." The Center's site has information on their various leadership
programs.
Community
Tool Box
The Community Tool Box "is intended for everyone addressing issues
in local communities. The core of the Tool Box is the 'how-to tools.' These
how-to sections use simple, friendly language to explain how to do the different
tasks necessary for community health and development. For instance, there are
sections on leadership, strategic planning, community assessment, advocacy,
grant writing and evaluation. Each section includes a description of the task,
advantages of doing it, step-by-step guidelines, examples, checklists of points
to review and training materials." In addition, there are links to other
web sites and listservs relating to the topics in the Tool Box.

Training Network (FTN)
FTN's mission is to "provide high-impact leadership training to customers world-wide
via satellite, CD/DVD, and the Internet; to provide a superior product at a
competitive price with excellent customer service and to continue to grow yearly
while giving back a portion of net profits to our local communities." The site
contains information about their programs and speakers.
Management
Academy for Public Health (MAPH)
The Academy offers "industry-wide educational programs focusing on
the unique complexities associated with managed health care." Located at
the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, the academy sponsors groundbreaking
new initiatives to strengthen the management capacity of local and state health
departments in GA, NC, SC, and VA.
Mandel Center for
Nonprofit Organizations
Program information regarding the Master of Nonprofit Organizations degree,
the Certificate Program in Nonprofit Management program, and an executive education
program.
National
Public Health Leadership Development Network
These state and regional leadership programs, supported through a cooperative
agreement from the CDC, the Association of Schools of Public Health, and St.
Louis University School of Public Health, "are dedicated to meet the local
grassroots needs by developing and enhancing individual and organizational leadership
and management for improving and promoting the health of commodities."
The site provides links to their programs, strategies & resources, news
& issues, network formation, and related practice links.

Health Foundation Training Finder
The Public Health Foundation provides a searchable database of online educational
distance learning opportunities.
Public Health Grand
Rounds
Grand rounds are a technique in medicine to "illustrate the clinical presentation
of diseases, to provide a context in which participant can review basic information,
and to focus discussion on several possible ways to frame and address the problem.
In Public Health Grand Rounds, the 'patient' is defined as the community and
the 'presenting problem' is defined as a public health issue challenging the
community and requiring its informed response." The site contains information
of presentations and is designed to facilitate a "national dialogue on
public health issues."
Public
Health Training Network (PHTN)
Sponsored by the CDC, the PHTN is a distance learning system. It offers "training
opportunities to professionals in public health settings, and, increasingly,
in health care and related settings." In addition to history and overview
of the PHTN process, the site contains information about video conferences,
audio conferences and meetings.
