American Dental Association
The ADA is the professional association of dentists committed to the public's oral health, ethics, science and professional advancement; leading a unified profession through initiatives in advocacy, education, research and the development of standards. They are the oral health authority committed to the public and the profession.

American Diabetes Association
The American Diabetes Association is the nation's leading nonprofit health organization providing diabetes research, information, and advocacy. Founded in 1940, the American Diabetes Association conducts programs in all 50 states and the District of Columbia, reaching hundreds of communities. Find out what is happening in your area.

American Dietetic Association
The American Dietetic Association (ADA)serves the public by promoting optimal nutrition, health and well-being. With nearly 65,000 members ADA encompasses the nation's food and nutrition experts, translating the science of nutrition into practical solutions for healthy living. Fifty state dietetic associations, plus the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and the American Overseas Dietetic Association, are affiliated with ADA. ADA's Knowledge Center provides timely and objective food and nutrition information for consumers and health professionals. ADA position statements address issues such as children's health, food technology and safety, public health, consumer education, health-care reform, elderly nutrition and health-care provider education.

American Heart Association
The American Heart Association is a national voluntary health agency whose mission is to reduce disability and death from cardiovascular diseases and stroke. The American Heart Association is divided physically into the National Center (located in Dallas, Texas) and 12 affiliate offices that cover the United States and Puerto Rico.

This report from the Healthy States initiative of the Council of State Governments describes the startling trends in health costs, chronic disease rates and Medicaid costs for these diseases. National Center for Chronic Disease Prevention and Health Promotion (NCCDPHP)
CDC’s NCCDPHP is at the forefront of the nation's efforts to prevent and control chronic diseases. The center conducts studies to better understand the causes of these diseases, supports programs to promote healthy behaviors, and monitors the health of the nation through surveys. The site contains links to chronic diseases, nutrition and physical activity, genomics, healthy youth, healthy aging, safe motherhood, oral health, and more.

National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI)
The National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI) provides leadership for a national program in diseases of the heart, blood vessels, lung, and blood; blood resources; and sleep disorders. Research is related to the causes, prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of heart, blood vessel, lung, and blood diseases; and sleep disorders. For health professionals and the public, the NHLBI conducts educational activities, including development and dissemination of materials, with an emphasis on prevention.

Partnership for Prevention
Partnership for Prevention is a membership organization of businesses, nonprofit organizations and government agencies advancing policies and practices to prevent disease and improve the health of all Americans. They seek to increase investment in preventing disease and promoting health and to make prevention a national priority . The site contains publications and resources on physical activity, nutrition, tobacco use, and more.

The President’s Council on Physical Fitness and Sports
Through its programs and partnerships with the public, private and non-profit sectors, the Council serves as a catalyst to promote health, physical activity, fitness, and enjoyment for people of all ages, backgrounds and abilities through participation in physical activity and sports. Society for Nutrition Education
The Society for Nutrition Education (SNE) represents the unique professional interests of nutrition educators in the United States and worldwide. SNE is dedicated to promoting healthy, sustainable food choices and has a vision to be recognized as the premier organization for food and nutrition education professionals. SNE provides forums for sharing innovative strategies for nutrition education, expressing a range of views on important issues, and disseminating research findings. Members of SNE educate individuals, families, fellow professionals, and students, and influence policy makers about nutrition, food, and health.

Steps to a Healthier U.S.
Steps is an initiative from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) that advances the goal of helping Americans live longer, better, and healthier lives. Through this program, states, cities, and tribal entities receive funds to implement chronic disease prevention efforts. These efforts focus on reducing the burden of diabetes, overweight, obesity, and asthma and address three related risk factors—physical inactivity, poor nutrition, and tobacco use.
