for Infectious Disease Research & Policy (CIDRAP)
CIDRAP, located at the University of Minnesota, works to support the development
of and refine public policies relating to the prevention, control, and treatment
of infectious diseases to ensure that they reflect the most current biomedical
knowledge and to promote practices among both healthcare professionals and the
public that aim at reducing illness and death from infectious diseases through
provision of accurate, up-to-date information and education.
Health
Poll Search
Health Poll Search is a searchable archive of public opinion questions on health
issues that allows users to know what Americans think about health issues, as
well as what Americans have thought about health issues over time. Health Poll
Search is the result of a partnership between the Kaiser Family Foundation and
The Roper Center for Public Opinion Research at the University of Connecticut.
The Roper Center houses an archive of more than 350,000 public opinion questions
dating back to 1935. The
Health Poll Search archive covers 29 topics and more than 300 subtopics, and holds
more than 60,000 questions on health issues from health care surveys that have
included questions on health. These questions provide information on public perceptions
of HIV/AIDS, reproductive health, health policy and health reform, Medicare and
Medicaid, women's health, the uninsured, minority health, and children's health.
Response percentages and source information are provided for all questions.

Policy Coach
Health Policy Coach is part of the California Center for Health Improvement
(CCHI). The Coach "is a resource for people seeking to improve community
health through prevention-focused policy change. The site provides peer-reviewed,
searchable health policies and "how-to" information and coaching resources
of individuals and groups interested in effecting policy change in their communities."
Policies include such topics as child care, tobacco, firearms, environmental
toxins, illegal drugs, alcohol, and infectious disease.
Influenza
Pandemic Preparedness Planning
This site, from the CDC's National Vaccine Program Office, offers information
on influenza, its potential impact, information on pandemics and history of
influenza. There is also a link to FluAid
2.0, software that estimates number of deaths, hospitalizations, and
outpatient visits that may occur during the next outbreak.

Electronic Disease Surveillance System (NEDSS)
"NEDSS is an initiative that promotes the use of data and information system
standards to advance the development of efficient, integrated, and interoperable
surveillance systems at federal, state and local levels. This broad initiative
is designed to: a) facilitate the electronic transfer of appropriate information
from clinical information systems in the health care industry to public health
departments; b) reduce provider burden in the provision of information; and
c) enhance both the timeliness and quality of information provided.
West Nile Virus
Information from the USDA Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service
about West Nile Virus. There a numerous links to articles and surveillance data,
