The CPSC is an independent Federal regulatory agency that "help keep American

FEMA is an independent government agency. Its mission is to "reduce
loss of life and property and protect our nation's critical infrastructure from
all types of hazards through a comprehensive-based, emergency management program
of mitigation, preparedness, response and recovery." The site contains
links to administration, disaster assistance, preparedness/mitigation, and prevention.

The goal of the IHS is "to ensure that comprehensive, culturally acceptable

Indian and Alaska Native people." The web site of the IHS contains information

Academies
Created in 1863 by and act of Congress, the National Academies were established
to advise on "the scientific issues that frequently pervade policy decisions."

Safety & Health Administration (OSHA)
OSHA works to save lives, prevent injuries and protect the health of America's

"OMB's predominant mission is to assist the President in overseeing the
preparation of the Federal budget and to supervise its administration in Executive
Branch agencies. OMB evaluates the effectiveness of agency programs, policies,

funding priorities. OMB ensures that agency reports, rules, testimony, and proposed

The Office of Minority Health (OMH), part of the US Department of Health
and Human Services, addresses "public health issues affecting American

Islanders, Blacks/African Americans and Hispanics/Latinos." There are links
to publications, conferences, statistical information, and additional health

of Rural Health Policy (ORHP)
The ORHP "promotes better health care service in rural America. It informs
the Department of Health and Human Services on matters affecting rural hospitals,
health care, coordinates activities within the department that are related to
rural health care, maintains a national information clearing house. The Office
works both within government at federal, state and local levels, and with the
private sector to seek solution to rural health care problems."

Information Center (RIC)
RIC is USDA's information service for rural areas. RIC provides funding sources
and information on a variety of rural subjects including rural health, rural
development, and more for rural officials, organizations, communities, and citizens
nationwide, 1-800-633-7701.
