Civic Practices Network
"CPN is a collaborative and nonpartisan project bringing together a diverse array of organization and perspectives within the new citizenship movement." Their web page provides the tools and resources to problem solve in communities and institutions.

Coalition for Healthier Cities and Communities
The Coalition is a partnership of entities from the public, private and nonprofit sectors whose mission is to "stimulate and encourage collaborative action and efficient use of resources from multiple sectors and community systems." The site has information on their agenda, a states network, community forums, a library resource and news.

Community Health Status Indicators Web Site
This site is the result of a HRSA funded collaboration among numerous public health organizations. The purpose of this site is to provide health information for each county. While the information is compiled from existing reports, the site provides the information together and compares it to peer counties. This is a great site for communities to assess their health status and how they compare to other counties.

Community Tool Box
The Community Tool Box "is intended for everyone addressing issues in local communities. The core of the Tool Box is the 'how-to tools.' These how-to sections use simple, friendly language to explain how to do the different tasks necessary for community health and development. For instance, there are sections on leadership, strategic planning, community assessment, advocacy, grant writing and evaluation. Each section includes a description of the task, advantages of doing it, step-by-step guidelines, examples, checklists of points to review and training materials." In addition, there are links to other web sites and listservs relating to the topics in the Tool Box.

Council on Linkages Between Academia and Public Health Practices
Resource for leaders from organizations and agencies working to improve "the relevance of public health education to the demands of public health in the practice sector." Site provides information on linkage activities, meetings, projects and membership.

Outstanding site for information about health law, policy and management.

This is a list of governmental resources and anything related to law making. Topics range from national, state and local government links to Washington contacts, issues, politics and organizations.

Health Guide USA
Health Guide USA is a gateway to online health information sources. The site contains links to: federal agencies, more than 400 state government agencies and programs involved in health matters, almost 1,000 local health departments, over 150 state physician, hospital and dental associations or societies, 47 leading medical libraries, over 300 teaching hospitals, more than 150 national health advocacy organizations and a
variety of resources on health conditions, clinical trials, pharmaceuticals, and much more .

Legal Information Institute
This site contains links to state statues by topics, including health.

Local Government Environmental Assistance Network (LGEAN)
The LGEAN "is a 'first-stop shop' providing environmental management, planning, and regulatory information for local government elected and appointed officials, managers and staff." It provides an online message boards, publishes a quarterly newsletter and houses links to a resource organization database.

International Healthy Cities Foundation (IHCF)
These pages are available in five languages--English, French, Japanese, Portuguese, and Spanish. The mission of the IHCF is to "facilitate linkages among people, issues and resources in order to support the development of Healthy Cities initiatives." The IHCF will link people, organizations, and networks currently working to advance Healthy City goals and provide linkages with others dealing with significant and related areas of work." The Foundation site contains links to their programs as well as a searchable database for information on Healthy Cities.

Local Government Institute (LGI)
LGI "is an independent nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the quality of local government." The site has links to local government resources, publications and software, and links to other government related sites.

Municipal Codes Online
This site posts the municipal codes for available cities online and has links to other sites with municipal postings.

Municipal Research & Services Center of Washington (MRSC)
Although the Center's geographical range is to serve Washington cities and counties, this site provides ample local government resources for non-Washington cities and counties. There are subject indexes linked to additional resources; links to other government (besides Washington) sites; and news.

National Association of Counties (NACo)
NACo "represents county governments, acts as a liaison with other levels of government, works to improve public understanding of counties, serves as a national advocate for counties and provides them with resources to help them find innovative methods to meet the challenges they face."

National Association of County and City Health Officials (NACCHO)
NACCHO "is a nonprofit membership organization serving all of the nearly 3,000 local health departments nationwide. NACCHO provides education, information, research and technical assistance to local health departments and facilitates partnerships among local, state, and federal agencies in order to promote and strengthen public health." Their site contains links to NACCHO programs, including community assessment tools such as APEXPH (Assessment Protocol for Excellence in Public Health) and their new community health improvement tool: Mobilizing for Action through Planning and Partnership (MAPP).

National Association of Local Government Environmental Professionals (NALGEP)
NALGEP is a professional organization that brings together "local environmental officials to network and share information on innovative environmental practices, conduct environmental policy projects, promote environmental training and education and communicate the view of local environmental officials on national environmental issues."

National Association of Towns and Townships (NATaT)
NATaT's purpose is "to strengthen the effectiveness of town and township government by educating lawmakers and public policy officials regarding the operation of small town governments and by advocating policies on their behalf." There are links and information available on legislative priorities of the organization, state associations, government links and legislative alerts.

National City Government Resource Center (NCGRC)
The NCGRC site is a resource for links to nonprofit organizations, research institutes, think tanks and other associations related to city government. It does have links to state capitols as well as general city links.

National League of Cities (NLC)
NLC's mission is "to strengthen and promote cities as centers of opportunity, leadership, and governance."

National Public Health Leadership Development Network
These state and regional leadership programs, supported through a cooperative agreement from the CDC, the Association of Schools of Public Health, and St. Louis University School of Public Health, "are dedicated to meet the local grassroots needs by developing and enhancing individual and organizational leadership and management for improving and promoting the health of commodities." The site provides links to their programs, strategies & resources, news & issues, network formation, and related practice links.

PeriStats
PeriStats is an interactive perinatal data resource providing maternal, infant and child health-related data at the state-level and for many indicators at the county-level. The PeriStats database uses data compiled from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), including the National Center for Health Statistics (NCHS), the National Center for Chronic Disease Prevention and Health Promotion, and the National Center for HIV, STD, and TB Prevention, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), the Health Resources Services Administration (HRSA), the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), the U.S. Census Bureau, the National Governors Association (NGA), the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) and the March of Dimes.

Rural Community Assistance Corporation (RCAC)
RCAC works to improve the quality of life for rural communities and disadvantaged people through partnerships, technical assistance and access to resources.

Rural Community Assistance Program (RCAP)
RCAP's mission is "to help rural people to improve the quality of life in their communities." The provide experienced staff in the following areas: community development and leadership; management and financial systems; engineering, water and wastewater facility operators, environmental and solid waste management, rural housing, and health care.

Rural Information Center (RIC)
RIC is USDA's information service for rural areas. RIC provides funding sources and information on a variety of rural subjects including rural health, rural development, and more for rural officials, organizations, communities, and citizens nationwide, 1-800-633-7701.

US Conference of Mayors (USCM)
USCM is "the official nonpartisan organization of cities with populations of 30,000 or more." The site provides informational resources for their membership.
