ActDEN (Digital Education Network)
"ActDEN currently offers seven software tutorials, produced in conjunction with Microsoft K-12 Education, and seven exciting DEN courses. Each tutorial and online course offers up-to-date information and interactive features that encourage students to learn, think, and participate in the online community." The programs offered: FrontPage 2000, Office 2000, Internet Explorer 5, Powerpoint, and Outlook Express.

Bare Bones 101: A Basic Tutorial on Searching the Web
Bare Bones 101 is a great basic tutorial for web information. Its contents include definitions on the kinds of search engines and search tools, understanding Boolean logic, troubleshooting and a closer look at many of the big search engines.

Data Skills Online
Data Skills Online is a web-based, self-instructional toolbox. The purpose of Data Skills Online is to provide public health professionals at state and local levels with analytic and technology skills tools focused on quantitative and qualitative data collection and analysis. Topics include: Subscribing to a List, Browser Basics and Searching, Overview of Primary Data Collection Instruments, and Designing Questionnaires. The tutorials are free and available to anyone.

Finding Information on the Internet
This site is the information presented in a series of workshops at the University of California, Berkeley. The site has great comparison tables for search engines, databases, gateways and other directories.

Internet Tutorials
These Internet tutorials, from the University at Albany Libraries, have basic and research guides to Using and Searching the Web; Using Search Engines & Subject Directories (including using Boolean logic and choosing a search engine or directory); Browser information; and Software Training.

Land-Grant Training Alliance
"The Land-grant Training Alliance is an informal, unfunded group of computer education and technology professionals, most of whom are employed by universities within the United States Land-grant University System." The site provides online "classes" on a wide variety of software packages which are divided into four categories: Word Processing (MS Word, Corel, Word Perfect), Presentation Graphics (PowerPoint, Corel Presentations, Lotus Freelance), Spread sheets & Databases (Access, Excel, Lotus 1-2-3, Quattro Pro), and the Internet.

Learnthat
Learnthat is free web enabled training for computer courses, IT certification exams, business and all sorts of other topics. Their lists of courses and tutorials are divided into the following categories: business courses; computer courses; fun tutorials; home & garden; lifestyle tutorials; money & financial; new tutorials; software help; web design tutorials; and windows tutorials.

Netskills
"Netskills provides quality Internet training services to facilitate the effective use of Internet and Intranet technologies for teaching and learning, research, administration, marketing and other business activities. " Although this training was developed in the United Kingdom, it is applicable to anyone interested in improving their Internet skills.

Pandia Goalgetter Internet Search Tutorial
Pandia's is a basic tutorial covering the definitions of search tools, using Boolean logic and other searching strategies. The Pandia site also contains other information about Internet use.

Using Search Engines Better
This site, from Search Engine Watch, offers users information about searching the Internet, how to power search, tutorials, reviews about search engines a search engine glossary and how to use Boolean logic to search the Internet.
