Governing models to help drive Boards of Health to create healthier communities
Scott Hays - University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, Center for Prevention Research and Development
Conference participants will review various governance structural arrangements, considering how different governing structures affect the board's and the department's ability to drive their community toward improved health outcomes. In particular, participants will learn about how different governance structures can improve - or hinder - local collaboration, can strengthen - or weaken - advocacy efforts with local government, and can enhance - or detract from - local community leadership. The presentation will discuss how re-imagining governance structures can help drive the healthy community of tomorrow.
This presentation addresses the following Board Governance Functions:
- Policy Development
- Legal Authority
- Partner Engagement
